The LA Galaxy man retired from professional football on Thursday after a glittering career, predominantly at Liverpool, where he became an Anfield idol.

And one of the most touching homages came from a former rival, as ex-Manchester United man Patrice Evra had warm praise for his old adversary.

But Evra was far from the only former foe to pay his respects - the likes of John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla all showered the Reds legend with praise.
