American Horror Story: 1984 Episode 6, titled “Episode 100,” also gave fans an “Asylum” crossover, though the epic crossover that many fans were expecting did not come to pass on the FX show. What happened instead were plenty of twists and turns as it was revealed exactly what happened to our characters post-Camp Redwood.
What happened in American Horror Story: 1984 Episode 6?
“Episode 100” began not in 1984 but 1985, with Richard Ramirez (played by Zach Villa) and Mr. Jingles (John Carroll Lynch) living together as some kind of murderous version of The Odd Couple until the former is finally arrested and sent to prison.
While one murderer faces justice, another has done nothing but benefit from her crimes. We cut to 1989 and an episode of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous (a real ’80s TV show that is a mix between Dynasty and MTV Cribs).
The subject of this episode is Margaret Booth (Leslie Grossman), who has moved on from Camp Redwood, got herself a Patsy Stone-style beehive and forged a real estate empire by buying up murder houses (including the Briarcliff Manor from Asylum) and hosting events there. Want to ride a Ferris wheel at the Manson Family’s Spahn Ranch? Margaret’s your woman.
In 1989, she is in a very dysfunctional marriage to Trevor (Matthew Morrison), who Margaret married in 1985 in order to stop him testifying against her after he tries to blackmail her. Her assistant is Courtney, a familiar face from AHS past, as Leslie Jordan returned for the first time since Roanoke. Courtney interrupts the pair as they are about to get romantic (or their twisted version of it) to tell them that Brooke Thompson (Emma Roberts) is about to go on death row after losing her last appeal.
On death row, Brooke meets Richard again, who she politely tells that she “gutted that bitch [Montana] from inside out and now she’s in Hell licking Satan’s balls,” which for all we know could be a plot set up for American Horror Story Season 10.
Richard wants her to join him in worshipping Satan, but she refuses. Montana, meanwhile, has actually not made it to the afterlife but is stuck as a ghost with Xavier (Cody Fern) in Camp Redwood, killing anyone who crosses her path. Margaret reads about these murders in Camp Redwood in a newspaper and decides to host a music festival there—the Coachella of killing.
As Margaret plots a return to Redwood, Jingles has got out of the murdering game and is living with his wife in Alaska. Meanwhile, Richard does a blood ritual to Satan which gets him out of jail while Brooke dies by lethal injection.
Well…nearly. As her body is wheeled out, she is given a reviving injection by the clinical psychologist formerly known as Nurse Rita (Angelica Ross) but now known as Donna.
With this, American Horror Story: 1984 Episode 6 seems to set up an epic confrontation back at Camp Redwood, as murderous forces meet during the music festival. Brooke will return to get her revenge on Margaret and Montana, while Jingles will come back to the camp to kill Richard once and for all after Richard killed his wife and left him a flyer for the festival.
American Horror Story: 1984 airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET on FX.
