This Easter egg suggests an epic crossover between the two seasons that could see an army of serial killers descend on Camp Redwood. This is also hinted at by a recent casting leak that could hint a “Hotel” cast member will join Richard Ramirez (Zach Villa) for the rest of the season after “Episode 100” ends.
In the previous episode, Ramirez left Camp Redwood to head to Los Angeles, and the AHS: 1984 Episode 6 trailer seems to reveal where he will go. We see him in what looks like a hotel, in which he grabs a female resident and pulls her into his room.
On its own, this moment may not seem like much, but if we look back at American Horror Story history, it is very revealing. After all, 1984 is not the first time that Ramirez has featured in the FX show.
The character (then played by Anthony Ruivivar) made an appearance in the “Devil’s Night” episode of AHS: Hotel. As such, seeing him in a hotel again seems to hint we may be returning to the world of the Hotel Cortez and its rogues’ gallery of serial killers.
A recent casting reveal gave a hint at who may be joining him. Earlier in October, stunt performer Alina Andrei was labeled as “stunt double: Lily Rabe” for Episode 7 of 1984. This may suggest that Rabe, who has not been in this season so far, may be back for her seventh American Horror Story.
Though she could return as any number of characters, or a new character, her Hotel character was real-life serial killer Aileen Wuornos, who was seen alongside Ramirez in the “Devil’s Night” episode. This may hint that the infamous serial killers may be teaming up for a murderous return to Camp Redwood.
Alternatively, Rabe could be reappearing as her Asylum character, The Devil herself. After all, Ramirez has spent the whole season saying he is on a mission from Satan, so it would make sense if he makes an appearance alongside his master.
The “Episode 100” synopsis, however, offers no hints. It reads: “With the horrors of the night behind them the survivors deal with the fallout of their choices.”
American Horror Story: 1984 continues Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET on FX.
