From April 23 to May 4, New Horizons players will be able to complete various activities to earn more Nook Miles tickets than ever before. It’s also a great chance to craft new items to spruce up your private island and meet new vendors.

But first, New Horizons owners will need to make sure their game has updated to version 1.2, or else this new event won’t go into effect.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Nature Day event in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

ANIMAL CROSSING: NEW HORIZONS NATURE DAY ACTIVITIES

When you turn on New Horizons on April 23—after the update—players will notice not much is different on the island. You’ll have some new mail from Tom Nook, who will ask you to come see him.

Players will see Leif, a new vendor who sells bushes and flowers in front of Resident Services, but we’ll get into what they offer in the next section. What players will need to do is talk to Tom Nook to get the 411 on the new event.

Nook will explain that Nook Miles plus members can take advantage of a special promotion that will happen during the duration of the event. More Nook Miles will be given out for completing certain eco-friendly activities.

Check your Nook Phone and go to the Nook Miles app. Select the plus button to access the Nook Miles Plus activities and you’ll see that the far-left task will have the Nature Day symbol, a green sapling, next to it.

Complete the task to get five times the amount of Nook Miles for completing. Unfortunately, it looks like there is only one task per day to complete, as talking with Tom Nook after completing won’t give another special task.

Here are some of the tasks that can be completed (this list will be updated):

Plant Shrubs StartsDecorate with Flowers

Once you’ve completed the task, go speak to Tom Nook and he’ll give you the DIY recipe for hedges. Hedges are a great way to create borders and decorate your island. They act like fencing, but in plant form.

Hedges need the following to create:

Clump of weeds (x10)Tree branch (x5)Stone (x2)

LEIF’S SHOP

With the new update, Leif will periodically appear on your island to sell shrubs and flowers. This is a permanent addition to the game, so don’t get FOMO. Leif shows up in front of Resident Services and introduces shrubs into the game.

Leif describes shrubs as little trees and there are different types based on the season. Since they act like little trees, planting shrub starts will also fulfill the “planting trees” tasks.

Currently, Azalea is in season in the northern hemisphere and Leif has the following in stock:

Pink Azalea start (280 Bells)White Azalea start (280 Bells)Red Azalea start (280 Bells)Yellow hibiscus start (280 Bells)Red cosmos bag (240 Bells)Red rose bag (240 Bells)White cosmos bag (240 Bells)White rose bag (240 Bells)Yellow cosmos bag (240 Bells)Yellow rose bag (240 Bells)

Leif also buys clumps of weed from you at higher than normal prices. So if you have a bunch stocked up, be sure to sell them to Leif for more Bells.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now for Nintendo Switch.
