Fans may have seen the frightful specter during the Animal Crossing Nintendo Direct presentation in February, but many players might not yet have had the pleasure of encountering Wisp on their island.

This guide will explain where to find Wisp on your island and how to complete the mission you are tasked with. And, most importantly, it’ll break down the types of gifts you can receive for helping Wisp.

HOW TO FIND WISP IN ANIMAL CROSSING: NEW HORIZONS

Similar to the Gullivar’s mission, players can find Wisp on their island randomly one night. Yes, this mission can only be done at night, so if you want to find Wisp you’ll need to hop onto New Horizons after 6 p.m. local time.

We found Wisp on Day 12 on the island after having brought over three new residents. Speaking to one of the new residents, they told us that they saw something on the island that looked like a ghost. This information got us to look around the island. After scaling a wall to one of the higher elevations, voila—there was Wisp.

Speak to Wisp to have them freak out and lose pieces of their spirit. This will mark the start of the mission, which you’ll have until daylight to complete.

HOW TO COMPLETE WISP SPIRIT PIECE GATHERING MISSION

Wisp will explain to you that there are five spirit pieces to collect in total around the island. None are found indoors, so players will need to scour the island for these floating green wisps.

Use your net to catch all five spirit pieces and return to Wisp where you first met them.

After handing the five spirit pieces over, Wisp will revert back to his original form and be eternally grateful—he’s a friendly ghost, after all.

Wisp will then offer you one of two gifts. What was offered to us was a new floor design, but we had to choose whether to get something that we already didn’t have or something expensive.

We chose the expensive choice and received the Hexagonal Floral flooring.

Once you make your selection, Wisp will disappear presumably to return again. This new mission is just another discovery you can make in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
