Chief among these reveals is a new Legend, astrophysicist Dr. Mary Somers, also known as Horizon. Just like all other members on the roster, Horizon has a collection of unique abilities. These include a Gravity Lift that pulls her trio up in the air, a buff to avoid fall damage and a Black Hole ultimate that picks up foes and smashes them to the ground. The latter ability was inspired by the Gravity Sar from Titanfall, although it’s been specially tuned for battle royale combat.
When not firing guns, players can explore Olympus, a totally new map that’s bigger than Kings Canyon but a bit smaller than World’s Edge. It’s an area based on the idea of improving rotations, and that means players have multiple tools to quickly traverse from one end of the map to the other. The Trident, for example, is a three-person vehicle for trios to share. While it’s not possible to eliminate opponents by hitting them with the craft, you can attach other Legend abilities to it, such as Rampart’s turret, Gibraltar’s dome and even Caustic’s Gas Traps. If the Trident’s not fast enough, Phase Runners can teleport players with the added risk of taking ring damage. This is all, of course, in addition to Olympus’ bevy of new PoIs, like the Rift and Bonsai Garden.
Given that the new content may be difficult to study in the heat of battle, Respawn is also offering an Olympus Preview LTM for the first two weeks of Season 7. This is the game’s first combat-free playground where squads can formulate strategies without distraction.
For those ready to enter the fight, Clubs offer an outlet for up to 30 players to form a clan. These clans have dedicated lobbies, rules, roles and permissions. Search tags can help others find Clubs that are open to accepting new members. More relaxed players might leverage the “casual” tag, for example, while serious competitors may label their Club as “mics only.” After defining your parameters, it’s possible to create a colored sigil and tag to ensure you leave your mark.
Underscoring these front-facing features is the Ascension Battle Pass, which has been fully reworked to support a star system where 10 stars equates to a single Battle Pass level through the Cutting Edge R99 reactive at tier 100. There’s a bevy of new skins as well, including High-Class Wraith. Simply put, there’s a lot to love about Apex Legends Season 7 despite it launching during gaming’s busiest season.
Apex Legends Season 7 begins November 4.
