The Assassin’s Creed Valhalla reveal happened at the end of the Ubisoft stream that began at 8 a.m. EDT on Wednesday. It culminated in Australian graphic artist Kode Abdo, better known by his online persona BossLogic, completing a piece of artwork that showed off the setting and the main character of the new title.

“I have played all of the previous [Assassin’s Creed] games, but my personal favorite is Origins; as an artist, I love mythology and Egypt is up there as one of my all-time favorites,” BossLogic said in an interview with Ubisoft, when asked about the franchise’s influence on them. “I’ve painted quite a few pieces of Egyptian Gods. I just love the story and aesthetic of Origins. I’m also a huge fan of characters in hoods. I think characters in hoods across all mediums such as comics, movies, and games are awesome… so I give props to Ubi for creating such an iconic character… in a hood!”

There’s not a lot of information on Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, but Ubisoft confirms that a CGI trailer for the game will drop on Thursday, April 30, at 11 a.m. EDT. So be sure to keep an eye on the Ubisoft and official Assassin’s Creed social accounts to get your first look at Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

The main character of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, is at the heart of BossLogic’s artwork and the artist said he wanted to “convey a feeling and sense of burden.”

“I needed him to feel heavy and I wanted the viewer to feel that sense of heft,” BossLogic said. “This heavy burden that is asked of all the heroes throughout the Assassin’s Creed lore. The burden of a warrior, a hero, an assassin.”

BossLogic said that it was incredibly challenging to create the artwork without spoiling the ending. As many viewers of the livestream could attest to, seeing the piece of art come to life—from the background to the creation of the main character—took a lot of time and careful planning.

The artist also added that he wanted to convey the duality that’s present in all of the Assassin’s Creed games and was a big inspiration for this piece. He said that this plays out with the vikings and the Anglo-Saxons in history and is conveyed in the background of the piece.

Perhaps this is the conflict that players will experience in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla? We’ll soon find out when the trailer drops on Thursday.
