The devastated wife revealed her husband passed away one month ago aged just 37 after a long struggle with a chronic heart condition, and said “the most romantic thing I’ve ever heard him say” before he died.
Despite being on heavy pain medication, the woman’s husband managed to stay awake to hold her hand and tell her: “That his heart failed him … but the one thing it did right was fall in love with and choosing me as his soul mate and life partner.”
Sharing the touching moment on Reddit, the widow said she instantly teared up and felt an inexplicable bittersweet feeling, adding she is “devastated” by her husband’s passing.
After sharing the heartfelt words, she explained: “This made me tear up, I felt this hard sting in the middle of my head and I did my best to fight my tears off but couldn’t. This was literally the most romantic thing I’ve ever heard him say to me. I felt joy yet sadness, reassurance yet devastation … it was a bitter sweet type of feeling that I can not describe.
“He passed away at 6am in the morning. It was so devastating, it hurt, and it still does, but not a day goes by that I don’t think of the last thing he said to me and tell myself about how lucky I was to be loved by someone so sweet, so generous and kind hearted.
“Rest in peace Thomas. I’ll forever keep you in my heart, mind and eyes and will always love you no matter what. Thank you for bearing with me. I just wanted to tell somebody.”
