He posted his inaugural video to the social media platform on Sunday under the username @hioutthereitsmesteve. Already, the video has garnered 3 million views and more than 650,000 likes.

Burns begins the 14-second clip by introducing himself before admitting: “I don’t know how to use TikTok at all.”

“I kinda don’t even know what it is,” he continued. “If you could tell me, like, in the comments or something…thank you.”

Blue’s Clues first premiered on Nick Jr. in 1996. The show followed an animated dog named Blue and her owner Steve—played by Burns—as they solved clues around their house. In 2002, however, Burns left the program, so Donovan Patton took over as the show’s host, playing Steve’s younger brother Joe.

To celebrate the show’s 25th anniversary, Burns returned to tell his older fans that he left the show to attend college.

“You remember how when we were younger we used to run around and hang out with Blue and find clues and talk to Mr. Salt and freak out about the mail and do all the fun stuff and then, one day, I was like, ‘Oh hey, guess what, I’m leaving. This is my brother Joe, he’s your new best friend,’” said Burns in a clip shared by the official Nick Jr. Twitter account.

“And then I got on a bus and I left, and we didn’t see each other for a really long time. Can we just talk about that?”

He went on to praise viewers for all they had accomplished and thanked his fans for their support.

The clip has received nearly 40 million views and left fans in tears. His TikTok video, on the other hand, has left viewers feeling ecstatic.

“WELCOME OMG,” commented Pentatonix singer Scott Hoying.

“IT’S GONNA BE GREAT! YOU’RE DOING GREAT! THIS IS GREAT,” exclaimed Suite Life of Zack and Cody actress Kim Rhodes.

ASMR Playroom added: “STEVE IS ON TIKTOK!! I AM LOSING MY MIND!”

Some commenters took the opportunity to make Blue’s Clues references.

“Are you telling me Steve needs a clue?” asked Logan Ford in response to Burns asking fans to help him understand the platform.

“We just got a TikTok. We just got a TikTok. We just got a TikTok. I wonder who it’s from,” added Dan Schenker, referencing the show’s We Just Got a Letter song.

The official Sonic the Hedgehog account asked: “Do you need a new Blue?”

Popular TikTok personality rod, who’s best known for “translating the millennial experience,” posted a video response to Burns’s video, saying: “Dad? Steve? We got ya. Come on, we’ll help you.”

In the video’s caption, rod wrote: “you taught us so much. Now it’s our turn to help you.”
