Gearbox has yet to patch the item’s power level, allowing gamers to take full advantage of the exploit. Here’s how you can unlock and locate the Porcelain Pipe Bomb and use it for your own missions.
How to Unlock Borderlands 3 Porcelain Pipe Bomb
First you’ll need to head to the futuristic planet Eden-6 and complete the side mission, Raiders of the Lost Rock. This forces you to head to Ambermire and kill a nest of Jabbers and to get the Porcelain Pipe Bomb. For how powerful the weapon is, it is a bit of a disappointment of how easy it is to obtain. We’ve spent days grinding for Destiny or World of Warcraft weapons and this one comes up without much of a fight.
Borderlands 3 is a mostly single-player game where the advantages you gain can’t be used to mess with other players. Exploits in online-centric shooters like Overwatch and Counter-Strike are patched out as soon as they are noticed. I guess Gearbox either feels that this bomb is a useful part of the game, or they are just taking their sweet time to fix the issue.
Exploits in games are becoming more common as “games as a service” become the norm in the industry. Players can receive bans, punishment or have their items taken away for using exploits. I doubt Gearbox would go to such extremes to disrupt players that use the Pipe Bomb even though they technically can, but there’s no telling what the future holds. Maybe this is all just a magic trick and in a few days every Pipe Bomb will turn into a pigeon, egg, or a USB drive full of unmentionables left at a Medieval Times.
Borderlands 3 is available now on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. The Porcelain Pipe Bomb is available in the same quest on all platforms.
