The main features for today’s update include the cap increase and the Broken Hearts Day event. While players may appreciate the shift from max 50 to 53 and the additional Skill Points to enhance your build, it’s worth noting that this increase also impacts gear leveling too. That means all the high-level gear you may have just farmed during the Red Chest event has just become obsolete. Three levels isn’t exactly a huge discrepancy in terms of a gun’s potency, but the difference will matter to perfectionists. As for the event, Broken Hearts Day sounds like an easy way to get cool cosmetics for completing any task you’d otherwise do.

On the tweaks and refinements side of the equation, high-level players have a lot to be happy about. True Takedown mode is here, offering skilled squads the ultimate raid challenge. Also, with the added ability to disable Guardian Rank Perks, stat junkies will be better able to manipulate abilities that rely on lower shield counts. Your friends at lower levels will also be glad you’re not decimating everything in co-op as well. Borderlands 3 update 1.09 doesn’t totally reinvent the wheel, but it brings some cool changes to the game for the month of February.
