Adjusted the world drop rate while players are using Mayhem levels

Given what fans know about Borderlands 3 update 1.23, it’s no surprise the main feature of the latest download is the Director’s Cut DLC. As described above, those who opt to purchase the game’s second Season Pass will now have the opportunity to work their way through a challenging endgame raid, as well as a few new missions with Ava. However, even those who don’t want to pay for the new DLC can still experience the benefits of Maurice’s Black Market Machine, Crazy Earl’s Reroll Machine and the Diamond Armory. The Black Market sounds like it’s essentially Gearbox’s version of Xur from Destiny 2, which means Vault Hunters with extra funds have a regular opportunity to snag some top-tier loot.

Elsewhere in the 1.23 update, the rest of the changes are expectedly tame. It’s a nice benefit that past hotfixes have been bundled into this update, as that means starting up a new game after a long break shouldn’t usher in an onslaught of small downloads upon first boot.

Looking beyond that package, though, it appears the rest of the adjustments amount to small bug fixes or tweaks as opposed to anything substantial. For example, the presumably reduced world drop rate while in Mayhem levels is a very nice touch, but it won’t drastically alter the gameplay experience as players know it. Still, whether one decides to buy the new Borderlands 3 content or not, update 1.23 has some really nice features that the game’s growing community will surely appreciate.

Borderlands 3 is available now on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, PC and Stadia.
