Considering this update arrives just one week after the previous patch, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 version 1.21 doesn’t offer too many substantial changes beyond unlocking the new Operation Apocalypse Z content on Xbox. In short, today’s update seeks to address a handful of bugs that cropped up following the initial PS4 release on July 9. In other words, Sony console owners suffered through a few additional Zombies crashes so folks on other platforms wouldn’t have to.
Beyond miscellaneous bug fixes, the most surprising change of all, perhaps, is an adjustment to the Blackout map that decreases fog and increases visibility in most lobbies. It’s unclear if this tweak happened as a result of fan feedback or if it’s a slight hint at larger overhauls to arrive in the coming weeks. As Operation Apocalypse Z continues, might there be a more sinister revelation once the mist fully clears? Black Ops 4 update 1.21 isn’t the flashiest patch around, but it features more than a few helpful fixes.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is available now on PS4, Xbox One and PC. Update 1.21 is live on all platforms.
