Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War free multiplayer week start and end time
The Black Ops Cold War free multiplayer week runs December 17 at 1 p.m. EST through December 24 at 1 p.m. EST. Since there is no preload available for PlayStation, Xbox or PC alike, players will have to download the demo any time from now through the above-listed end date.
How to download the free multiplayer demo
Unlike the Modern Warfare free weekends that were primarily accessed through the free Warzone app, you’ll need to download an entirely separate demo to access the Black Ops Cold War multiplayer lobby.
PS4/PS5: In Warzone, go to the store, then select “franchise store. " The area to download the free access demo should be there. Xbox: Search “Black Ops Cold War free access” on the Microsoft Store or use this link. PC: In Battle. net go to the “BLACK OPS” tab and select “try it free. "
Note that it appears you’ll be required to download the full game in order to participate in the free trial week. This can occupy as much as 100GB of hard drive space depending on your platform of choice.
What maps and modes can I play for free?
As shown in the graphic below, the free content will roll out in phases over the course of the week. Further down, we’ve outlined what we know so far.
December 17-21
TDM: 6v6 mode where first to 100 wins. Played on Moscow, Cartel, Miami, Satellite, Checkmate, Garrison, Armada Strike, Crossroads Strike, Nuketown ‘84, the Pines and Raid. Domination: 6v6 teams fight over three objective zones to 200 points. Maps include Moscow, Cartel, Miami, Satellite, Checkmate, Garrison, Armada Strike, Crossroads Strike, Nuketown ‘84, The Pines and Raid. 2v2 Gunfight: Duos square off to be the first to win six rounds in Game Show, ICBM, KGB and U-BahnNuketown ‘84: Play Nuketown all you want. “Raid the Mall” Playlist: A playlist featuring new maps the Pines and Raid.
December 21-24
This phase includes all previous content plus:
Prop Hunt: Teams separate as props or hunters. The match ends when all props are found or the timer runs out. Combined Arms Hardpoint: In this 12v12 mode, teams fight over a rotating objective with optional use of vehicles. Can be played on Armada, Crossroads, Miami and Catel. Fireteam Dirty Bomb: This mode features 40 players working to collect and deposit uranium. Matches are played on two maps.
In other words, while the Modern Warfare free weekends restricted players to a specific set of maps and modes, the vast majority of Black Ops Cold War multiplayer will be playable for all over the next few days. It requires a substantially larger download, but there’s a lot more content to enjoy after murdering your data cap.
