Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Best Guns
Kilo 141: Especially for your first 30 levels or so, this AR is a solid asset. It’s best improved by attachments like the Commando Foregrip, 60-round Mag and the Mo’ Money Perk. With this setup you’ll get lots of quick kills while being heavily rewarded for doing so. M4A1: Once you’ve spent some time with the Kilo, you should be able to unlock the M4A1 as well. This gun does lots of damage with little to no recoil, which makes it a really good starter weapon to accrue easy XP. Especially if Modern Warfare is your first Call of Duty in a while, this gun may be worth the investment. It’s a great selection for both close and ranged combat. AUG: For fans of SMGs, the AUG is a solid choice with high DPS. Especially once you unlock the Ghost Perk, this can be a really powerful weapon with many gameplay advantages. P90: The P90 is a worthy SMG option too. Unlike P90s in other shooters, this one doesn’t have much recoil. That means you can get all the damage and fire rate benefits without much of a tradeoff. It’s a very customizable gun as well, which makes it a solid fit for most loadouts. FR 5. 56: This firearm is part of your starter classes, and it’s basically a single burst kill every time. While burst weapons are a bit divisive, this is still a nice gun to get your feet wet. There will be much better options once you level up, but in the opening hours this is a solid beginner choice. MP5: This gun has a little more recoil than other starter SMGs, which means it’s probably best aided by an attachment like the Angled Foregrip. This weapon is a beast from up close and can also fare decently well at mid range if necessary. For run-and-gun gameplay few weapons are better. M13: Back to ARs, this gun is a lot like the Honey Badger from Ghosts. It’s got a high rate of fire and really clear sights, making it a strong mid-range choice. It feels like a mix between an AR and SMG at times, so, if you still can’t decide which weapon class is right for you, this is one route worth considering. MP7: This weapon may not be as good as its versions in other recent Call of Duty titles, but the Modern Warfare incarnation still benefits from a large mag and clear sights. It doesn’t do as much damage as the MP5 but still may worth tinkering around with. AK-47: This military classic is completely tuned for high damage in Modern Warfare. That being said, it does have obvious tradeoffs in mobility, recoil and rate of fire. A more skilled player may be able to work magic with those drawbacks, though, which gives it a spot on our list. Just make sure to attach a grip or bipod to it. MG42: LMGs aren’t the best gun type in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, but this one is pretty good if you want to try something a little different. It has a high fire rate and large mag, but reloads will take a while. Give yourself some space once the clip empties.
Those are our top-10 guns in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare right now, but we’ll try to add more as we unlock the full roster and experiment with different class setups.
