Best Gameplay Settings
Button Layout Preset: Some of the best Streamers use Bumper Jumper or Default, but a seemingly universal option is to press square/X to adopt a “flipped” control scheme. This means you’ll be shooting and aiming with the bumpers instead of triggers. It may not feel as natural at first, but because there’s less give on bumpers, flipping controls allows you to get your shots off quicker. Aim Response Curve Type: This changes how the right analog stick feels when moved. For those who are new to the game, the Standard setting is probably fine. Dynamic, however, reverses the S-curve. It may feel weird at first, but it ultimately helps experienced players with recoil and reactionary aiming once you adjust to it. Sensitivity: Horizontal and vertical numbers can vary wildly based on personal preference, but many pros like to keep their ADS sensitivity somewhere between 0. 75 and 0. 80. Vibration: Off. Vibration is a distraction, so turning it off helps you focus and improves your aim. Aim Assist: In most cases we’d suggest keeping this on Standard unless you’re a new player who could use the benefit of the new Focusing mode. Precision may be helpful for pros, but average players likely won’t use it. Depleted Ammo Weapon Switch: Enable this so your weapon switches automatically once you’ve totally run out of ammo for your active gun. There’s no good reason to turn this off. Film Grain: Turn this setting to zero to offer the clearest image quality possible. The default option makes things look more cinematic, but, in a highly competitive multiplayer match, it only gets in the way. Motion Blur: In that same vein, disable Motion Blur for Weapons and the World. Effects can only distort your view, so turn them off.
Best Audio & Audio Mix Settings
Master Volume: Keep at 100. Music Volume: Turn down to 30. Dialogue Volume: Turn down to 30. Effects Volume: Keep at 100. Audio Mix: Some players report that using Boost High helps you best hear high frequencies like gunshots, footsteps and other effects, but the results may vary based on your individual speaker setup. In most cases, though, the differences with the presets aren’t massive.
The goal with these audio settings is to maximize your ability to hear the parts of the game that are most important for gameplay. Music and dialogue are purely atmospheric, while sound effect knowledge offers the best chance to get the drop on an opponent. That’s all you need to know to get started with gameplay and audio settings in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
