Despite a few miscellaneous bug fixes and weapon tweaks, the main feature for Modern Warfare update 1.12 is the content itself. Fans may remember the Cranked game mode from past Infinity Ward games under its old name, PCP. In the TDM-inspired mode, teams trade kills for the highest score. However, after each kill the assailant earns a 30-second bonus to their abilities. If another kill isn’t earned by the time the 30 seconds elapses, the boosted player explodes. In other words, Cranked is fast, frantic fun in classic Call of Duty fashion. As for Vacant and Shipment, those two maps offer similar retro Modern Warfare appeal.
For those looking for a totally fresh experience, that will have to come from the new Winter Docks Gunfight map and Strongbox Special Operation. Gunfight in particular gained strong favor amongst the community since its inclusion in this summer’s public beta. The 2V2 match type proved to be lots of fun amongst groups of friends, and the seasonal aesthetic should make matches even more interesting. There aren’t many surprises in update 1.12 with regard to buffs and nerfs, but the infusion of new content should be more than enough to keep enthusiasts busy.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
