The main feature of Modern Warfare and Warzone update 1.24 is, of course, the addition of Season 5 content, which includes the Petrov Oil Rig and Suldal Harbor multiplayer maps, Lurch Operator and more. On the weapons side of the equation, players will be able to try out the AN-94 assault rifle and ISO SMG. The former has made appearances in Black Ops games in the past, while the latter is a remixed version of a gun that dataminers have been watching closely since last year’s Modern Warfare beta.
While all that sounds exciting, it’s perhaps Warzone that’s the biggest beneficiary of update 1.24. Old locations like the Train Station and Stadium get entirely new looks, while a railway has opened up in Verdansk, offering Quads speedy travel around the outside of the map. Also tied to mobility, there are new ziplines on tall buildings that offer greater verticality to those hoping to fight off skilled snipers perched in unreachable areas. For soldiers who’d like a new way to play, Mini Royale is essentially analogous to Fortnite’s popular Blitz mode in that it offers short-term battle royale action in bite-size chunks. Overall, Season 5 of Modern Warfare encapsulates one of the biggest day-one offerings the game has seen to date.
