That chase was put on hold again on Saturday when Simona Halep routed Serena Williams in the Wimbledon final in 56 minutes winning 6-2, 6-2. In so doing, Halep improved her record to 9-2 in favor of Williams and became Romania’s first ever Wimbledon singles champion.
Of course, when it became official, celebrities and fans both went to Twitter to react to the final match — not only congratulate Halep, but also to express the disbelief in which she beat Williams.

The way in which Williams lost was so unbelievable that “Damn Serena” even briefly started trending on Twitter.
Tennis great Billie Jean King praised Halep on her dominant performance throughout the match.
Judy Murray went back in time to show how far Halep has come in her career, earning her second Grand Slam title.
Some people were quick to jump on a recent poll in which one of eight men thought they could earn a point against Williams.
Many viewers hated to see Williams fall short of 24 yet again. She has lost three straight Grand Slam titles, and this latest loss has to hurt.
Despite all the talk, negative or positive, Serena still shows class-act mentality even with the loss.
