The Back Way - Finding Banshee-44’s Secret Workshop
To start the Back Way quest step, talk to Banshee-44 in the Tower. He’ll task you with finding the entrance to his hidden workshop. The path is a bit hard to describe in text, but what you essentially want to do is go to the Hangar area where Xur sometimes spawns and work your way up all the stairs and through the vents.
You’ll see this brand-new doorway.
Go through, drop down and navigate till you see this lit vent.
Climb up, and you’ll eventually come to this drain area.
Climb up one more time, and you’ll reach the armory. Interact with the snipers on the floor to continue the Make Bows Not War quest. Again, the exact pathing is hard to describe in text, so feel free to use the video above to make your way there.
Safecracking 101
Workshop located, talk to Banshee again and he’ll tell you you need to do some Safecracking. This involves playing Gambit, Gambit Prime, Strikes or Nightfalls to fill up a quest meter. The fastest way to fill your progress is to finish two Nightfalls of any level. Gambit, on the other hand, offers 25 percent per loss and 35 percent per win. Traditional Strikes are the least effective way, worth 20 percent completion.
The next step requires getting 75 precision kills on Vex or Cabal. Forget the Vex part and just go straight for Cabal. Go to the start of the Leviathan raid, and just waste all the Cabal in the first encounter till you meet the threshold. You can also try EDZ Lost Sectors or a sector in the Cistern if the Leviathan sounds too scary for you.
Finally, finish things off with the Arm’s Dealer strike straight from the menu. It has modifiers like Harsh Elements, Blackout and Iron, but the task shouldn’t be too difficult for any Guardians beyond 900 Power. The boss is harder and there are more enemies, but the basic idea is the same.
Go back to the Tower, talk to Banshee and go to his secret room again. After that, the Leviathan’s Breath is yours. So far the weapon seems to drop at a rate equal to your Power past 900. Those below 900 will get it at a lower threshold.
Leviathan’s Breath Review
Once you have Leviathan’s Breath, here’s a recap of its main perks.
Big-Game Hunter: Fires a massive heavy bolt that staggers unshielded enemy combatants. Strong against Unstoppable Champions. Chain Bowstring: Slightly increases accuracy and increases stability. Fiberglass Arrow Shaft: Greatly increases accuracy and slightly decreases stability. Leviathan’s Sigh: When fully drawn the bolt creates a large, concussive blast that knocks enemies back.
With its 10 default arrows this weapon has the ability to do massive PvE damage and one-shot kills in PvP. Mountaintop seems like a better option if you can get it, but this is still fun to fire. This weapon probably won’t break the meta, but, for the 90 or so minutes its quest takes, it’s well worth adding to your collection.
Destiny 2 is available now on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
