What is Weapons of Light?

For those not so versed on their Guardian history, Weapons of Light is a perk from the original Destiny that was exclusive to the Ward of Dawn Super. It grants the player and their allies 25 percent more weapon damage for a period of 10 seconds when they pass through the radius. The perk established the Titan as a support class, and it became something of a crutch for heavy raiders. As a result of this reliance, the buff was initially cut from Destiny 2.

With this in mind, some Guardians are concerned the reintroduction of Weapons of Light might cause problems for the meta. Because the Titan is lacking in support offerings as it is, there’s a possibility Weapons of Light’s crutch status might rear its ugly head once more. This could force players to group tighter in raids to maintain the damage advantage. That being said, it’s possible Bungie might reveal additional Titan support perks heading into Shadowkeep’s launch next month.

What about Armor 2.0?

For the most part the Armor 2.0 discussion didn’t reveal much beyond features teased during Shadowkeep’s initial reveal in June. All armor in the game supports six different stats that offer various buffs. Group two armor pieces with the same buff, and its impact will increase. Mods offer further buffs in the place of randomized perks. In other words, Guardians presumably won’t have to do quite as much grinding to get the benefits they seek. The same Mods can also be applied to multiple armor sets.

It’s also worth noting that, with the exception of Exotic armor, all Armor 2.0 pieces separate their cosmetic from their function. This means if you like the way an armor set looks, you can attach any abilities you like to it. Coupled with the Sandbox tweaks described above, Destiny 2 Shadowkeep looks to be a huge step in the right direction for Bungie’s evolving MMO-shooter.

Destiny 2 is available now on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
