Xur officially located, let’s take a look at each piece of gear he’s selling. Due to recent Armor changes, traditional rolls aren’t necessary.
The Jade Rabbit [Primary Scout Rifle - 29 Legendary Shards]: With its Fate of All Fools perk, you can chain body shots to gain bonus damage on your next precision shot and refill ammo in your magazine. This is far from the best Exotic in Destiny 2, but it’s a solid sniper substitute if you’re looking for one. It has high headshot damage and is well suited for wide-open spaces. Especially if you’ve got the catalyst, it can shred in Crucible. Mechaneer’s Tricksleeves [Hunter Helmet - 23 Legendary Shards]: Comes with the Spring-Loaded Mounting perk. This increases the reload speed of your sidearms. It’s not that great unless you like the design, but its benefits are clear nonetheless. Ashen Wake [Titan Gauntlets - 23 Legendary Shards]: This one has its standard perk called Bring the Heat. It causes Fusion Grenades to explode on impact and increases throw speed. This Exotic benefits heavily from fairly recent changes to the Sandbox meta. If you’ve been slacking on your use of projectiles, now’s the time to change up your strategy. The Stag [Warlock Helmet - 23 Legendary Shards]: With its Dearly Departed perk, Rift energy is granted when critically wounded. When you die, there’s a brief healing Rift on your corpse. With that in mind, this Exotic isn’t that useful for skilled Guardians and can instead be manipulated by teammates if you happen to be the weak member of the group. Overall, we’d suggest passing on it. Five of Swords: This is a Nightfall Challenge Card that can raise or lower the Power handicap to fit your needs. Raising the handicap increases your score multiplier. The World [Invitation of the Nine - Nine Legendary Shards]Complete the Lake of Shadows Strike. Collect Nine Fallen Samples. Collect Nine Cabal Samples. Collect Nine Taken Samples.
The Xur inventory for October 11 remains pretty weak for the most part. While items like the Stag and Mechaneer’s Tricksleeves aren’t sold very often, neither Exotic is insane enough to truly suggest spending the Shards. There are edge cases where both pieces of gear can be helpful, but they’re mostly outclassed by other items. Much like last week’s inventory, this one is probably best invested using a Fated Engram instead. There’s nothing totally wrong with anything here, but we’d only suggest a purchase if you’re a hardcore collector. If anything, the Jade Rabbit is the best member of today’s set.
