The series, created by Sex and the City’s Darren Star, has developed a cult following over the years and has become a guilty pleasure for many Netflix customers.

Emily in Paris follows the exciting life of stereotypical Chicago 20-something Emily Cooper (played by Lily Collins) who lands a job as a marketing executive in Paris, uprooting her entire life to live her Parisian fantasy.

Along the way, there have been plenty of dramas, love triangles, multiple French cliches, a McBaguette, a belated discovery of the Kir Royale cocktail, and many fashion faux pax, alongside some seriously chic looks.

Love it, or hate it, Emily in Paris is proving to be so popular, it has already been given the green light for Season 4.

The latest outing dropped on Netflix on Wednesday, December 21, and fans have already been making their way through the series. They have also been sharing their thoughts online, joking about the easy-watching nature of the series, while also admitting it is exactly what they want to be watching over the festive period.

A few Emily in Paris fans have been joking about how watching the show is like receiving a lobotomy, a form of brain surgery developed in the 1930s that’s no longer carried out.

One fan tweeted: “Watching Emily in Paris is like receiving a lobotomy via audiovisual material which is exactly what I want from a TV show,” adding that it was the “definition of ’no thoughts just vibes’.”

A second fan commented: “It’s the perfect hate watch for me. I don’t know if they did that on purpose. Two different audiences watching for very different reasons. Those that adore Emily, and those that can’t stand her.”

A third fan referred to Emily’s discovery of a Kir Royale cocktail, adding: “I only want to try a kir royale and turn my brain off, thank you.”

Another Twitter user described Emily in Paris as “mad men” for the lobotomized.

One Emily in Paris fan commented: “Each bad review for Emily in Paris season 3 only makes it more likely that I will watch it. for reasons we do not fully understand at this time, there’s almost nothing you could say about this abominable show that will stop me from watching it.”

The new season of Emily in Paris picks up from the cliffhanger of Season 2, which saw Emily face a difficult choice to stay in Paris and work with Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) and her new company or return to Chicago with Savoir.

Emily was also dealt the devastating blow that Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) had gotten back together with Camille (Camille Razat), leaving Emily to question whether she does actually have a future with Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) after all.

Just like in Season 2, Emily is still stuck in a love triangle, whether she wants to admit it or not. Hopefully, by the end, she will have made a choice and will then stick to it.

Emily in Paris Season 3 is streaming on Netflix now.
