When does the Euphoria Rue special air?
The Christmas-themed special of Euphoria airs on HBO on Sunday, December 6 at 9 p.m. The network will also be airing Season 1 in its entirety from 10 p.m. on December 5.
However, three days prior to this release, Zendaya surprised fans of the teen drama by tweeting, “Euphoria Part 1:Rue …streaming early on @hbomax tonight 9pm PST / 12am EST. I hope y’all like it, missed Rue Rue a lot.”
How to watch the Euphoria special online
As Zendaya revealed, “Trouble Don’t Last Always” is streaming now on HBO Max. This means that new subscribers to the streaming service are able to watch the new episode for free. The service offers a seven-day free trial, after which time the service costs $14.99 a month for access to its extensive catalog of HBO show and, it was announced this week, all of Warner Bros. 2021 films (as well as Euphoria Season 1 and the upcoming second special when it is released).
In other territories, the special is not expected drop early, but after the episode airs on HBO on Sunday. It is also not expected to come early to other streaming services that include HBO, including HBO Go.
What will happen in the Euphoria special?
The official synopsis for “Trouble Don’t Last Always” reads: “In the aftermath of being left by Jules at the train station and relapsing, the first special episode follows Rue as she celebrates Christmas.”
The special mostly sees Rue talking to sponsor Ali (Colman Domingo) in a diner. Domingo said of this to Esquire: “I actually love that they said it’s a special episode because I think it’s actually very special. I think it’s an opportunity to have two people who are addicts have a very raw conversation. I think it’s a great opportunity for you to take a breath with [Rue] and for her to just be honest with someone who only wants her to be honest.”
