Ubisoft has confirmed that we’ll learn more about Far Cry 6 during Ubisoft Forward on Sunday.
Original Story
It’s been a tumultuous week for Ubisoft. Not only is the company dealing with the fallout of assault allegations, but many of its high-profile video games are being leaked.
The latest is Far Cry 6, the next installment in the first-person-shooter, action franchise, which has seemingly been leaked via a now-deleted listing on the PlayStation Hong Kong store. The listing gave a February 18, 2021 release date and a brief description of what to expect.
“Welcome to Yara, a tropical paradise frozen in time. As the dictator of Yara, Anton Castillo is intent on restoring his nation back to its former glory by any means with his son, Diego, following in his bloody footsteps. Their ruthless oppression has ignited a revolution.”
The cover art also reveals that Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad, The Mandalorian) will be playing Anton while the protagonist is a Yara local named Dani Rojas, a guerilla soldier fighting for freedom.
The listing also confirms that digital purchasers of the PS4 version of Far Cry 6 will get an upgrade to the PS5 version once it becomes available for free.
Ubisoft has yet to confirm the existence of this upcoming game, and likely won’t until its special online presentation this Sunday. Newsweek has reached out to Ubisoft for comment and will update with new information.
While Far Cry 6 wasn’t a title on Ubisoft’s confirmed game release schedule, two other triple-A games that were also leaked.
Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, Ubisoft’s biggest upcoming game, had 30 minutes of gameplay footage leaked online via YouTube and other sites like Reddit on Sunday. Ubisoft is actively trying to take down all the leaks, but those looking to go into Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla knowing as little as possible before its release may have been spoiled this past week.
Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla is set for a holiday 2020 release.
And then we have Watch Dogs: Legion. This third installment in the hacking/adventure franchise is based out of the UK and allows players to play as a variety of different characters, from street performers to old ladies to help take down a totalitarian government.
This past week, screenshots showing some of these characters and gameplay were leaked via Reddit.
Ubisoft’s Forward event is set to stream online Sunday, July 12 starting with a pre-show at 2 p.m. EDT with the main presentation beginning at 3 p.m. EDT.
