How to Get the Command Materia Behind the Ventilation Fan
You’ll encounter the red Summon Materia behind the fan once you reach Chapter 6, called Light the Way. At the point in the main mission where players walk across a large pipe and must hide behind cover to avoid being blown over by fans, Tifa will call your attention to Materia hidden behind one of them. In fact the camera pans over to show you the glowing collectible, making it all the more tantalizing. For now, though, you can’t get it, so just keep on moving with the mission as directed. The main goal is to get to the Section F Cargo Platform labeled on the map, but it’s not accessible right now.
With that in mind, progress through the mission till you turn off all three Sun Lamps. After you do, you’ll wind up back on platform H-01. Instead of taking the big central elevator to meet Biggs, take this lift to the right. Climb up the large ladder straight ahead. While it’s not related to the Materia specifically, there’s a missable Chocobo Jukebox track in the room once you reach the top, so don’t ignore it.
Across from the Jukebox is this terminal. Hit it, the fans will turn off and it’ll be announced that you have 60 seconds to defeat all the enemies in the room. Although, you really have closer to 50 seconds if you want that Materia. Don’t worry too much about getting it right immediately, because you can always try again if you fail.
As you thrash your way through the room, make note of this terminal against the wall.You need to hit it as soon as the area is clear.
Go through the door ahead, take a right and the red Summon Materia will be straight ahead. In case you forgot what you were looking for, Barrett will remind you. For your efforts, the Chocobo & Moogle Materia is unlocked.
How to Get the Church Materia
The church Materia makes its presence known in Chapter 8, titled Budding Bodyguard. As soon as you start the church escape sequence, you’ll see some yellow Command Materia concealed behind some smoke off to the right. There’s no way to get it now, so just proceed with the mission and go up the stairs ahead.
In Chapter 14 you’ll go back to the church when it’s in a less stressful state. At that time, you’ll be able to get the Materia without fuss. It’s a second instance of the Chakra Materia that Tifa has by default. This allows you to use the move on two characters instead of just one. If by chance you’re playing on Hard difficulty, it will be a Healing Materia. That’s all you have to do to get the fan and church Materia in Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
