Final Fantasy 7 Remake Release Time

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be released at midnight on April 10 on the PlayStation 4. Players can pre-download the over-80-GB file right now so that they can be ready when the game goes live. The initial file size is fairly small, only around 7 GBs, but that’s merely for the first level of the game. FF7 is a gorgeous masterpiece with more skin and tone detail than you’d expect out of Sony’s device. That means if your PlayStation 4 starts making a humming noise from its fan, you shouldn’t worry.

Physical copies of Final Fantasy 7 Remake are floating around right now and should work in your console before the official release. But with stores like Gamestop and Best Buy closed, it’s a lot harder to get your hands on one—so props to you if you do.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Special Editions

There are three different versions of FF7 that players can purchase. The Standard version for $60 comes with the base game and all DLC will have to be purchased. For $80, you can buy the Deluxe version which includes an artbook, a mini-soundtrack, a steelbook and the Cactuar and Carbuncle Summon Materia DLC. For those willing to drop $330, you can buy the First Class edition which comes with everything in the Deluxe as well as a Play Arts Kai Cloud Strife & Hardy Daytona figure. Having a fully posable Cloud figure is nice, but not sure that it’s worth an extra $250 dollars.

After playing Final Fantasy 7 Remake for multiple hours, I can say that the game definitely lives up to the hype. Gone is the turn-based combat, replaced with a robust but still understandable menu system that keeps you engaged. The story itself is a bit convoluted, but that’s just how Square Enix rolls. If you are a fan of JRPGs or giant-sword simulators, then this is the game you’ve been waiting for.
