When Is ‘Five Days at Memorial’ Out?
Five Days at Memorial is an Apple TV+ original series and it will be released on the streaming platform from Friday, August 12.
The first three episodes will be made available on the day of the show’s premiere and it will be released on a weekly basis thereafter.
There will be eight episodes in total, and it’s expected to be a limited series for Apple TV+.
What Is ‘Five Days at Memorial’ About?
During Hurricane Katrina, the Memorial Medical Center was cut off when the storm led to the levees being destroyed in New Orleans, which caused the city to be flooded and those inside the hospital to become trapped.
The hospital was left without power or running water, the patients and medical professionals had little food and temperatures rose to 100 degrees after the hospital’s back-up power broke down.
Some 45 patients died while waiting to be evacuated from the hospital during the five days. Out of all the bodies recovered from hospitals and nursing homes in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, Memorial Medical Center had the highest number of casualties.
Some allegations were made that there were patients at Memorial Medical Center who were administered lethal doses of morphine or other pain medication that led to their deaths.
The Apple TV+ show explores the events that led up to these deaths, and it’s based on Sheri Fink’s non-fiction book of the same name.
Who Will Star in ‘Five Days at Memorial’?
Five Days at Memorial has an A-list cast that is led by Vera Farmiga, who portrays Dr. Anna Pou, and Robert Pine as Dr. Horace Baltz.
Cornelius Smith Jr. portrays Dr. Bryant King, Cherry Jones takes on the role of Susan Mulderick, and Sharron Matthews plays Cheri Landry.
Other cast members appearing in the show include Adepero Oduye, Julie Ann Emery, Molly Hager, Michael Gaston and Joe Carroll.
