What time is Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3 expected to start?

According to a tweet from the official Fortnite Status Twitter account, Fortnite Season 3 is expected to go live after a period of downtime that begins at 2 a.m. EDT on Wednesday, June 17. That’s when the highly anticipated 13.0 update will become available for download.

It’s difficult to know precisely how long the downtime will continue, but seasonal shutoffs typically last anywhere between 90 minutes and two hours. That being said, servers should be live around 4 a.m. EDT or shortly thereafter.

What do we know about Season 3 so far?

As if the current submerged state of the Battle Royale map wasn’t enough of an indication, the Fortnite Season 3 Battle Pass will almost assuredly feature some sort of nautical or aquatic theme. This much was gathered from teaser images datamined as far back as late April. The graphics have yet to be used or seen in game, but they feature Meowscles wearing arm floaties, Peely about to be eaten by a shark and a building kept afloat by a giant lifesaver. Provided these leaks are indeed an indicator of what Fortnite fanscan expect to see tomorrow, it looks like Season 2’s Agents may return alongside water-based threats and floating POIs.

To augment these leaks, Skin-Tracker also uncovered character swim animations in April as well. With that in mind, it looks like combatants will be able to navigate the newly flooded battleground with greater ease, once the servers go live. Combined with the above leaks, it appears firefights will take place both above ground and below the surface.

Of course, on the more official side of the equation, Epic has also released its own lineup of Season 3 teasers. By the time of this article’s publication, we’ve caught glimpses of a trident, a character in a suit holding a moon-like object and a first look at a nautical shack point of interest. There’s even some funny business happening with the Team_No_Sweat Reddit account. Following the Device event Monday afternoon, the source began posting messages in the voice of Fortnite’s own No Sweat Insurance company, telling fans that many have expressed interest on the subjects of water damage and boat rentals. There are also mentions of space being outside the purview of what No Sweat offers. These Reddit posts likely don’t tease much, but they confirm No Sweat still has its place in the Fortnite universe heading into Season 3. That’s all we know about Fortnite Season 3 for now.

Fortnite is available now on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC and mobile. Season 3 begins June 17.
