When does the Device live event start?
According to Fortnite’s in-game countdown visible in the lobby, the Device live event is expected to start around 2 p.m. EDT June 15.
About one hour before the festivities begin, it’s assumed Epic will start shutting down queues and funneling players into a special “The Device” lobby specifically designed for viewing the event. Once that opens, fans should snag a spot close to the Agency so they are best able to watch the action as it unfolds. Epic has offered encore performances of events in the past in the event of widespread technical problems, but you’ll still want to make sure you have the best seat possible a few minutes before the above-listed time.
What do we know about Fortnite’s the Device event?
While leaks about the specific event have mostly been kept under wraps, there are a few things we suspect might happen once the Device wreaks its havoc on the Season 2 map. Given that official leaks from the PlayStation Store and datamines alike confirm that Fortnite Season 3 features an aquatic theme with a water-focused arena, one would assume some level of flooding is about to occur.
With this thought in mind, there are quite a few locations worth watching. The Hydro 16 dam, of course, is designed to keep out waterflow. If the Device breaks it, all low-land locations like the Yacht, the Rig and the Agency could be at risk for being covered in the deluge. We suspect that in this event the water level will rise to a noticeable degree, and then we’ll see a lot more of the map totally covered once Season 3 begins on Wednesday.
As for the Doomsday Device itself, leaks suggest it will rise out of a hatch from the center of the Agency building. Ater that the other hatches surrounding the building might be activated as well. There’s not a lot we can prove about the Device event in the hours before it starts, but plenty of educated assumptions can be made.
