The event began with Galactus’ towering form approaching the Island from the water, as the gargantuan supervillain hovered over beloved points of interest in an effort to reach the all-powerful Zero Point energy source in the center of the map.
The Helicarrier was no match for the formidable foe, as it was instantly smashed for a crash landing somewhere near the Authority. It’s at this moment all players in the lobby were instructed to enter the Battle Buses after a quick conversation with Iron Man. While in the bus, it was possible to hit Galactus using Gamma Cell-powered lasers that, while cool, only offered minor help in addressing the perilous situation by taking out his drones.
It was the cells inside the vehicle that proved to be the key to Tony Stark’s master plan. Knowing Galactus would be unable to resist the urge to devour a bus, the goal was to have him suck up the bomb-endowed vehicles of all players.
Once Galactus did, let’s just say things didn’t go very well for Thor’s former partner. After a quick cutscene of a waking Agent Jonesy, it was revealed that Fortnite Season 5 would begin at 12 a.m. EST December 2. It should be noted that this is just the start of server downtime. Provided you’ve downloaded the 15.00 update, everything will be functional around 4 a.m. EST.
Without saying too much about Season 5, leaks suggest the upcoming Battle Pass will likely feature some kind of space theme. The downed Helicarrier is also expected to become a new Point of Interest on the Season 5 map. As exciting as that might sound to the Fortnite faithful, Tuesday’s live event was perhaps the sweetest way to get fans hyped up for the future.
Fortnite is available now on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, PC and Android.
