When the clock struck 2 p.m. EDT on Sunday, all players viewing in special event lobbies were immobilized as the infamous Dusty Depot Rocket prepared for launch. When the festivities began, the rocket launched and prompted a flurry of rifts to be destroyed. Out of said rifts, a swarm of smaller rockets flew around the map and charged the Dusty Depot Meteor.
When the rock broke, the commotion caused a major disturbance around the Zero Point at Loot Lake. Once its energy destabilized, players were eventually sucked into the time warp before getting one last look at the original Battle Royale island. As of 2:12 p.m. all screens of Fortnite servers are blackened. It’s assumed the new map and season 11 is preparing for deployment, but Epic has yet to officially respond to the fervor.
Players have discovered, however, that entering the Konami Code at the blackhole screen spawns a Galaga clone for fans to enjoy while they wait for downtime to conclude.
Fans have also begun to notice numbers appearing on the blackhole image as well. As seen in the tweet below, the latest visible number is 62. It’s not yet clear what these special digits mean.
Alongside the reveal of a new map, Epic will also likely shadowdropp the Season 11 Battle Pass with a wide assortment of new skins and other cosmetics to unlock. This is the first time a new season of Fortnite has begun without several days of preparation and extended server downtime. We’ll do our best to report any additional developments as they unfold.
