How many Acts are in Ghost of Tsushima?
Ghost of Tsushima features three Acts with around 24 gold path story missions in the main narrative. There are, of course, several different side quests to explore, fox dens to uncover and Shrines to traverse that can expand this fairly ordinary number significantly. As you work your way through, story missions generally appear in chunks of three.
Act I: Nine gold path missionsAct II: Nine gold path missionsAct III: Six gold path missions
Alongside expanding Jin’s evolving narrative, each Act also allows players to explore more of the map as well. Act I is restricted to the Izuhara, while Act II and Act III feature tasks in Toyotama and Kamiagata.
How long does it take to beat the game?
As with most open-world games, the length of time it takes to beat Ghost of Tsushima varies heavily depending on how much you wish to engage with the side content that appears alongside the gold path narrative. With that in mind, we’ve broken things down into two different numbers.
A main story playthrough: About 25 hours. A more complete playthrough: About 30-35 hours.
Given these stas, the most hardcore of open-world gamers may want to keep their expectations in check. The length of Ghost of Tsushima pales in comparison to the 40-hour main story of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, the 48-hour main story of Red Dead Redemption 2 and even the 30-hour story of Grand Theft Auto 5. While there’s obviously a lot to do in the game, the map doesn’t ever feel so littered with icons that the section ahead of you feels overwhelming. Ghost of Tsushima may borrow quite a bit from the content-drenched Ubisoft formula, but it does so in a way that is fairly restrained.
In our personal estimation of the situation, we’d also recommend at least a moderate level of interaction with the side content when playing on medium and hard difficulty levels. All the side content in Ghost of Tsushima helps Jin grow into a more powerful warrior, so you may start to feel a bit overwhelmed by enemies in the latter half of the game if you decide to pass up all those extra Skill Points and resource upgrades.
For those looking for a more narrative-based run, though, easy difficulty is a nice way to get a general feel for the experience without being forced to sink much time into it. If script is your aim, however, the optional side-character Tales might be worth exploring as they offer a fair bit of context to the backstories of significant personalities you encounter on your journey. That’s all there is to know about the length of Ghost of Tsushima.
Ghost of Tsushima is available now on PS4.
