On Wednesday, March 16 the streaming platform shared news for the highly anticipated new series. Here is everything you need to know.

When Will ‘Heartstopper’ Be Released?

In its official announcement shared on March 16, Netflix confirmed that the show would be released on Friday, April 22.

The show will have eight 30-minute episodes in total and all of these will drop at once on the streaming platform, as per usual.

Oseman adapted her own work for the small screen while the show is directed by Euros Lyn, and it is produced by See Saw Films and executive producer Patrick Walters.

Who Stars in ‘Heartstopper’?

Heartstopper will bring to the forefront a number of rising stars in the acting world, with Joe Locke portraying Charlie and Kit Connor playing Nick.

They will be joined in the lead cast by Yasmin Finney as Elle Argent, a transgender girl who recently moved to Charlie and Nick’s school, and William Gao who will take on the role of Tao Xu, Nick and Charlie’s friend and Elle’s boyfriend.

Other cast members include Corinna Brown as Nick and Charlie’s friend Tara Jones, Kizzy Edgell as Tara’s girlfriend Darcy Olsson, Jenny Walser as Charlie’s sister Tori, and Cormac Hyde-Corrin as bully Harry Greene.

What Will Happen in ‘Heartstopper’?

Heartstopper follows the unexpected romance that develops between teens Nick and Charlie after they meet and become friends at high school.

The show, like the original comics, will also delve into their friendship group as they all try and navigate life while on their own respective journey’s of self discovery.

As well as the fun, romantic elements to the show it will also explore more difficult topics such as eating disorders and depression amongst teens, particularly through the struggles Charlie faces.

Is There a Trailer for ‘Heartstopper’?

Yes, on the same day Netflix revealed when the show was going to being released they also shared a first-look teaser trailer.

The clip shared a glimpse into the school life of its lead characters and the time they spend together, as well as the growing feelings between Nick and Charlie.

One such moment sees Charlie’s teacher comment on if Nick is his boyfriend, while in another Nick contemplates holding Charlie’s hand whilst he sleeps next to him during a movie night.

Heartstopper launches on Netflix on Friday, April 22.
