Tristana and Veigar will also be getting their own onesies to join the party, but that’s not what fans really care about.

Star Guardian Urgot started out as a joke, combining the ugliest champion with the most sprite-tastic skin theme. In March 2018, the Star Guardian team had an AMA where the Urgot question came up. “The only reservation we have with him is that he doesn’t really make sense in the two teams of Star Guardians that we have delivered to players so far,” designer Carlos said. “We want to be very deliberate in making sure that a skin we give to players of a champion is something they actually want to play.” Turns out if you make a spoof skin that combines a bunch of different cute themes, you can get away with some fun concepts.

Riot Games has spent the last few April Fools’ Day events giving players odd skins that have been requested by the community. Meowrick, the cat-infused spirit of the Shadow Isles, was inspired by Cat Lady Yorick, a fan drawing that had been circulating around the internet for years. Draven Draven turns the egotistical mad man’s head into an even larger caricature of itself and Corgi Corki has been a joke in League of Legends since the champion was introduced.

Though not an April Fools’ Day skin, Beekeeper Singed also falls under this fan service umbrella. After a post of the champion outfitted into beekeeper attire, the internet immediately fell in love with the idea. It took a few years for the skin to be made but fans are sure glad it was made. There was also a Baker Pantheon because the Spartan champion said in his joke that he “always wanted to be a baker.” The skin didn’t do very well, but thankfully that hasn’t stopped Riot Games from meming.

These April Fools Day skins are currently on the PBE and will hit live servers in time for URF Day.
