League of Legends 2020: Season 10 Start Date and Time
League of Legends ranked Season 10 begins January 10 when the 10.1 patch drops on live servers. Normally, patches drop at around 2 p.m. EST. but bugs and server issues can cause delays in the season getting started. Don’t be surprised, if you try to queue up immediately after your patch downloads, that things seem a little laggy or out of place. There are a lot of people attempting to do the same.
When Season 10 starts, your rank from Season 9 will be reset, and you’ll have to play 10 new placement matches to see where you end up. The rank you hit last season will determine where you start in your placement matches, so all your previous work doesn’t go to waste. Placement matches are crucial for the grind; the amount of LP you receive from a win can sometimes bump you up entire tiers from your previous spot.
There are a few things you should know about before trying to climb the ELO ladder in Season 10.
Try to wait a few days after the season starts to get through your placement matches. Players who rush directly into their placements tend to get lower-skilled players or those more willing to troll, which gives you a higher chance of seeing defeat. Teamwork is the most important skill in League today, and when your allies are just trying to play for the sake of playing, your ELO suffers as a result. Tilt will be your worst enemy this ranked season. Going into a game with a bad mindset or spamming “gg” in the draft screen because you don’t like top lane Singed is never a good idea. Keeping a positive attitude and a desire to keep everyone united will do wonders for your game. If you lose two games in a row, take a break. Grinding through the night with tilt on the mind is rarely a good idea.
